Saroma Sea Ice School 2026
The Saroma Sea Ice School will be held from February 28 to March 9, 2026, in Saroma-ko Lagoon, Hokkaido Island, Japan.
The Saroma Sea Ice School is an interdisciplinary winter field school for early-career scientists – primarily PhD students, but also open to Master’s students and early postdocs – focused on the interactions among sea ice, snow, clouds, and aerosols in polar regions. Through a combination of classroom lectures, expert-led workshops, and hands-on fieldwork (including sea ice coring and atmospheric sampling), participants will explore the key processes that shape the Arctic and Antarctic climate systems.
The application closed on September 30, 2025.
